Maiko Mchedlishvili: Nature Stories Told in Threads

Born and raised in Tbilisi, Maiko Mchedlishvili’s background in Art History from the Georgian Technical University provided the perfect foundation for her lifelong passion: embroidery. Although she practiced the craft from childhood, life’s responsibilities and raising two children caused a temporary hiatus. However, true talent is never lost; it only waits for the right moment to resurface.

Six years ago, a chance encounter with an online embroidery community reignited her creative spark. Today, Maiko specializes in cross-stitch embroidery, a technique that demands immense patience and precision. She dedicates between 3 to 5 months to a single piece, ensuring every stitch is flawless. Her primary inspiration is nature—animals, birds, and landscapes come to life under her needle. Beyond embroidery, she has expanded her creative horizons into plasterwork and jewelry making. Having participated in several exhibitions, she continues to refine her craft, proving that art is a lifelong companion that evolves alongside the artist.
